Designed by a renowned Belgian architect, this shagadelic love pad in the sky is on the penultimate floor of a 25-storey skyscraper in the centre of Brussels. Known as La Tête Dans Les Nuages, meaning head in the clouds in English, the walls inside this apartment are formed by a unique system of modular blocks on wheels.

More design museum than holiday let, this former village school, an hour from Brussels, is quite possibly the most remarkable holiday home in the whole of Belgium. Designed by the owners, a couple of globe-trotting photographers, the house features: a cinema, cellar bar, table football, jukebox and basketball court.

Having started life in 1958 as a police boat in Germany, this river cruiser has quite an eclectic history. Rebuilt in the early 80's in Holland, it later served as a floating supermarket in the harbour of Antwerp, where it now remains. These days it offers comfortable weekend breaks, and longer, for up to 12 people.
